- - Carl Weller a demarat firma Weller Electric Co. din Easton, PA în 1945 cu inventarea pistolului de lipit. Căuta o cale de a deservi piața de reparații radio cu creștere rapidă. Această invenție a fost urmată de primul fier de lipit din 1950, urmat de primul fier de lipit controlat în 1976.
Weller sa extins în Europa în 1959. De-a lungul întregii sale istorii, Weller a dezvoltat continuu produse cu aspect de perspectivă pentru piețele de consum și industriale.
Angajamentul lui Weller față de tehnologie este evidențiat de echipa de cercetare și dezvoltare de șapte persoane, cu numeroase brevete și premii pentru creditul lor.
Centrul de formare al Universității Weller din Apex, NC, a fost înființat în 2007. Instruirea este asigurată pentru peste 100 de persoane pe an.
